GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS: Ford 4.0L
EFI/ 245 CID, Mazda R1 five speed manual overdrive transmission, Borg Warner
model 13-54 transfer case, Ford 8.8" rear axle with 31 spline 7/8" shafts
and a Trac-Lok limited slip, and a Dana 35 front axle with 28 spline 1
1/4" shafts. Combined crawl ratio is 31.5:1. Approach and departure angles
are 47 and 34 respectively. |
PERFORMANCE UPGRADES:
K&N Filtercharger, 8.8mm performance plug wires, platinum spark plugs,
high flow fuel injectors, four core radiator, 165 degree thermostat, custom
formed 2 1/4" exhaust system, synthetic lubricants, Rancho front suspension
compnoets (modified to 3 1/2" of lift), Rancho RS5000 shocks, 2" body lift,
15X8 American Black Nugget wheels with 32 X 11.50 R15 BFG A/Ts, Warn manual
locking hubs, Dana Spicer U-joints throughout, 80/100 watt headlight bulbs,
push bar, KC driving and off road lights |
COMFORT UPGRADES: Removable sunroof,
Cobra 146 GTL widebanded CB, K-40 antenna, Pride 100 watt amp, JBL 40 watt
amp, Realistic 40 watt amp and 10 band equalizer, 8 speaker sound system,
radar detector,and accessory power ports. |
SAFETY/ RECOVERY UPGRADES: First
aid/ survival kit, two type 10B:C fire extinguishers, recovery cables,
tow strap, stretch strap, Hi-lift jack, 12V trouble light, spare fluids,
ignition, and driveline parts stored on board.
CUSTOM MODIFICATIONS: Rear swaybar
removed for greater wheel travel off road, spring over axle conversion
in rear, 2"receiver hitch and wiring harness, switchable clutch interlock
bypass circuit, custom fused/ filtered/ relayed accessory power, custom
center console and shifter assembly, custom rear speaker box, and a custom
rear carpeted storage box for tools, parts, and spare fluids.
NEAR FUTURE PLANS: ARB air locker for
front axle, CD changer, headers, custom fabricated front bumber with a
2" receiver, air storage tank, lower gearing, and an engine buildup to
include ported heads and intake runners, a degreed cam, 2.02/ 1.96 valves,
.030 boring, flat top pistons, and more! The engine designer has estimated
that the little 245 will put out about 250 hosepower after the rebuild.
ADDITIONAL INFO: It has 124,000+ daily
driven miles. It does get used off road! All work excluding exhaust and
sunroof installations were done by the owner. The trucks nickname is "Redline"
for obvious reasons such as the trucks color and the owners driving habits.
Its also sometimes referred to as the "Exploder" for no particular reason.
The license plate frame reads "If it has to say 4X4 on the side, it cant
be much of one!". As a final note, it is always for sale for the right
price, although I doubt anyone will ever get to it!
